We know that a significant percentage, between 33% and 40%, of the population experiences anxiety related to flying. This phenomenon is more common among women and can be caused by various factors, such as fear of a plane crash or turbulence.
However, during the pandemic, we realized that many people were concerned about the possible presence of pathogens on flights, although this fear may be more related to the fear of getting sick than the flight itself.
Analysis conducted by SmartLynx Airlines revealed that fear of flying can lead to symptoms of anxiety and panic, such as excessive sweating, difficulty breathing and a rapid heartbeat.
This can also influence people’s behavior, leading them to perform compulsive actions or avoid flights in the future. My approach, the 3-C Process, focuses on three fundamental pillars:

Furthermore, social and cultural factors may contribute to this disparity, with society often placing the responsibility of caring for and protecting the family on the shoulders of women.
This increased concern for the safety of loved ones could amplify their anxiety related to flying. At the same time, women could be influenced by gender stereotypes that portray them as more vulnerable or emotional, which could amplify the perception of risk during travel.
Ultimately, the issue of fear of flying in women requires an in-depth, multifactorial analysis, taking into account a variety of psychological, social and cultural influences.
